Thimbles
Below are four different metal thimbles. Metal thimbles are most popular. Other types of working thimbles (as opposed to 'collector' thimbles) are made from plastic or leather.
As you can see, metal thimbles come in different styles and sizes. Some are decorated with assorted designs. Some have dimples only on the top while others are covered. The dimples help steady the needle when it hits the thimble. The golden open thimble allows for a sure fit over a finger with a long nail.
